For Zoon van de gazelle I worked with a visual language inspired by the warm earth tones and organic forms of the natural world. Quiet, open illustrations alternate with rich, layered spreads, so that stillness and wonder each get room to breathe.
The book is a retelling of a classic Sufi story, for readers of all ages, about a child raised by a gazelle who slowly awakens to the world around him, and to the question of who he truly is. With my illustrations I want to make that gradual awakening visible: full of tenderness, curiosity, loss, wonder and the first light of understanding.
